Handbook on Differentiation: how does PLGE want to help you with it?
The PLGE project has as main aim to provide language teachers with a set of innovative tools in an individual platform, along with the skills and knowledge to be able to offer adult learners high quality, personalised learning opportunities in adult, group language courses.
While studying the situation of language learning for adult learners, the partnership found that in many cases, although there are almost unlimited open educational resources (OERs) in the internet for language learning through self-directed learning (SDL), learners still preferred to have classes in which there was direct contact with the teacher and fellow students. Even if the classes are done remotely, having direct exposure to the thinking of other students and the explanation of a language teacher is something that cannot be achieved through SDL using OERs.
In order to get an educated impression of the real situation of the partner countries in PLGE regarding language learning for adults, partners made a study regarding the successful differentiation techniques, methodologies and case studies available in their countries. The result of this work is the “Handbook of Differentiation”, the first product created by the PLGE project, which aims to show ways of implementing different practices in the classroom, to make the learning of languages among adults easy and intuitive. All examples available in the Handbook are explained in a way that aims to facilitate their future use and adaptation to the teacher requirements.
This final product, the “Handbook of Differentiation”, will be soon available in the PLGE website for its download, in all partner languages (EN, POL, ES, ITA, NL). Feel free to take a look at our work, maybe it would be useful to you!
